Significant Facilities

Surau

The Surau is located on the ground floor of block C.

Equipped with prayer mats, books on Islam and a place for ablutions, the surau can accommodate almost 40 devotees at one time.

Computer Room

Located at the first floor of block A, the computer room houses 43 computers, a projecter, printer and a white screen.

Prefects Room

Located at first of block C the prefects room is a place where the school prefects converge for briefings on duty assignments, restoring schedules and meetings.

Discipline Room

Located at the ground floor of Block C, the Discipline Room is equipped with computers and furniture where the school’s discipline committee interviews students who have disobeyed the school’s rules and ethics. The teacher in charge also decides on suitable punishment and keeps records of any acts of indiscpline.

Counseling Room

Located at the ground floor of Block C, the Counseling Room is equipped with computers and furniture where the school’s discipline committee interviews students who have disobeyed the school’s rules and ethics. Cookery / Sewing Room

This room is located on the first floor of Block A. Students who take the subject Living Skills (Home Economics) use this room to sew and cook. Their activities there are supervised by a teacher.

Bilik Rawatan / Kesihatan (Treatment Room)

Also known as the St. John’s room, it is used for treating minor emergencies like asthma attacks. The St. John’s members use it as a meeting place and also for practising first aid. It is equipped with first aid supplies, a bed and a desk.

Laboratories

Our school laboratories or ‘labs’ for short are divided into 5 parts, which consists of 3 labs, 1 storeroom and the lab assistant’s office. Students use the labs to conduct experiments and learn. So far, no major accidents have yet happened.

The Bookstore

The bookstore is a common facility found in every school in Malaysia. The SMDJ bookstore supplies textbooks, stationery, exercise books and notebooks to students.

Bilik Serbaguna (Multi-Purpose Room)

The multi-purpose room in SMDJ is used by the school teachers and prefects for meetings and discussions. This room is equipped with chairs, tables and a television set.

Electrical, Engineering And Wood Workshops (Bilik KH)

These workshops are made and equipped specially for their functions. For instance, students who are assigned to do woodwork can only work in the wood workshop because that’s where all the woodworking equipment is located and the same thing goes for the electrical and engineering workshops.

Wuduk

This facility is meant for the Muslim teachers and students to wash and clean themselves before going for their prayers.

The School Weather Station

The school weather station was officiated in conjunction with the Damansara Jaya Secondary School Co-curriculum Day on the 14th of July 1995. It is located in block D.

Our school has the benefit of weather forecasts and the day’s temperature because of it.

The weather station has a weathervane, an anemometer, a rain gauge and a Stevenson’s Weather Station, which is used to monitor the weather and temperature.

The School Field

The school field is where almost all sports activities are held. It is also where the Physical Endurance Test is held. The field has two goal posts for playing football and two goal posts with rings for playing netball.

The grass of the field is always cut when it is long so that sports activities can carry on smoothly. A fence to avoid unwanted intruders and to avoid students from skipping school surrounds the field.

The School Multi-purpose Court

The school multi-purpose court is where students may have outdoor activities or games, which require a court such as basketball, volleyball, sepak takraw and badminton.

The floor of the multi-purpose court is made of cement. The outlines of the courts are made out of paint and tiles.

The multi-purpose court is also a place where the school assembly is held. There is a small stage made out of cement covered with tiles for the headmaster and teachers to give speeches or to present prizes.

Trees and plants to give it a cooling and peaceful surrounding surround the multi-purpose court.

The School Pavilion

The school pavilion is placed facing the school field. Students go to the pavilion for shade on hot or rainy days. Students also go there to watch events being held in the field or to do their homework when the Resource Centre is closed. Sometimes, sports activities and part of the Physical Endurance Test is held there.
