Background
SMK DJ, located in the heart of Damansara Jaya, covers an area of 7.7345 acres of land. Opened in 1983, the school has seen several phases of enhancement and renovations to cater to the increasing number of students throughout the years.
In The Early Years
When the school buildings were completed, there were only 2 blocks – Block A & Block B. Each block comprise 16 classes. Other facilities in the first phase of completion included an administrative office , a staffroom, students and teachers toilets, a field, a canteen, 3 science laboratories, a home science room, a library, a multi-purpose room, 4 storerooms, and other basic amenities like lights and fans in every class, two gates, fence, etc.

Subsequent Additions
Work on the addition of another block began in 1989. Block C was completed the following year. This was quickly followed by two other blocks – D & E. Apart from classrooms, a special room for prefects and a disciplinary room were included.
The building of Block F was completed in 2001 which included three additional classrooms and three laboratories for Physic, Chemistry and Biology. And then Block G was further added to the infrastructure, adding 4 more classrooms to cater for the burgeoning population.
More Renovation Works and Upgrades
In 1985, a special classroom was allocated for students with hearing difficulties. In the same year, a computer room was set up in block A.
In August 1987, an art room was set up in Block C.
The school hall built through funds collected by the PIBG was designed by a Mrs BH Lim, a parent and PIBG member.
The School in 2007
Currently, the school has 7 blocks which comprise block A (Amanah), B (Bersih), C (Cekap), D (Dinamik), E (Ehsan), F (Fuad) and G (Gigih).
